Apple Pie (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 pie crusts (homemade or refrigerated).
02 - 10 cups apple slices (8 large apples).
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar.
04 - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour.
05 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
06 - 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon.
07 - 1/4 teaspoon each allspice and nutmeg.
08 - 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk (for topping).
09 - Coarse sugar (optional, for topping).

# Instructions:

01 - Mix sliced apples with sugar, add flour, lemon juice, and spices. Optionally, pre-cook the mixture for 5 minutes.
02 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll bottom crust into a dish and add warm or cool filling. Cut the top crust into lattice strips, weave a lattice pattern, crimp edges, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar.
03 - Start at 400°F for 25 minutes. Reduce heat to 375°F, add a crust shield, and bake for 35-40 minutes more. Cool for at least 3 hours before serving.
