Cut-Out Sugar Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - All-purpose flour, spooned & leveled (2 1/4 cups/281g).
02 - Baking powder (1/2 teaspoon).
03 - Salt (1/4 teaspoon).
04 - Unsalted butter, softened (3/4 cup/170g).
05 - Granulated sugar (3/4 cup/150g).
06 - Large egg, room temperature (1).
07 - Pure vanilla extract (2 teaspoons).
08 - Almond extract (1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon, optional).
09 - Royal Icing, Easy Glaze, or Cookie Buttercream for decorating.
10 - Assorted sprinkles for decorating.

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in medium bowl.
02 - Beat butter and sugar on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes. Add egg, vanilla, and optional almond extract, beat 1 minute.
03 - Mix dry ingredients into wet on low speed. Add extra tablespoon flour if dough seems too sticky.
04 - Divide dough in half, roll each to 1/4-inch thickness between parchment. Stack and refrigerate 1-2 hours.
05 - Cut shapes from chilled dough. Bake at 350°F for 11-12 minutes until lightly browned at edges.
06 - Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet, then completely on wire rack before decorating with chosen icing.

# Notes:

01 - Can be frozen plain or decorated for up to 3 months.
02 - Dough can be refrigerated up to 2 days.
03 - Recipe can be doubled for larger batches.
